The Bloodhound also goes by the name of St. Hubert Hound and Chien St. Hubert. During the ancient times, the Bloodhound was primarily used to track criminals, missing persons and lost animals. As a matter of fact, the Bloodhound’s evidence is acceptable in the court of law. This massive and very strong dog breed is a good natured pet. Physical Appearance
The Bloodhound weighs 33 – 50 kg and measures 23 – 27 inches. The common colors of the Bloodhounds are red, liver and tan, and black and tan. In some cases especially during the Middle Ages, a white Bloodhound has been noted.
In addition, the Bloodhound’s head, which is proportional to its body, is quite long and narrow. Its nose is black and the muzzle is long. It also has long, extremely thin and sagging ears extending to its neck. The Bloodhound is well known for its excess skin that goes on deep folds specifically on its neck and head.
