Fascinating Facts
The Samoyed is a dog breed that came from the Siberian mountain that helped fishermen and hunters for a long time. This breed also sleeps together with humans to provide extra heat on them. An English explorer named Robert Scott brought the Samoyed to England in 1889.
Physical Appearance
The adult Samoyed measures and weighs 21 – 23 inches and 45 – 65 pounds respectively. Its head is wedge-shaped and crowned. The well proportioned muzzle ends to a black nose. Its lips are also black. Its ears are triangular in shape that leads to round tips.
The legs of the Samoyed are straight and strong. The pads are also covered with hair. Its tail is long enough and is well covered with hair. This breed has dense, smooth and long double coat. The outer coat is hard and straight while the under coat is smooth, dense and short. The coat color of the Samoyed includes white, yellow and cream. There are times that a silver-tipped Samoyed is seen.
Grooming
The Samoyed needs regular grooming to keep its coat in prime condition. This breed sheds so much that’s why regular brushing of its coat is badly needed. Bathe only if necessary.
Mood
The Samoyed is playful, good-natured, friendly and gentle dogs. This dog is very cheerful to everyone even if it is a stranger. Because of this, the Samoyed is not fit to become guard dog or watchdog. If properly trained, this breed can live harmoniously with other pets such as other dogs, cats, birds and rabbits.

The Samoyed is a friendly and affectionate dog that loves children so much. It can play for long hours without showing signs of getting tired.
Training & Exercise
The Samoyed is an active and happy dog that needs regular exercise in order to make it satisfied. Exercise also plays important part on its physical and mental development. It needs to have at least an hour of walk or jog every day. However, make sure that you do not over exert the Samoyed during the summer season because it tends to shed too much coat.
The Samoyed is very intelligent and a highly trainable pet. The training should start at an early age so that you can maximize the learning age. This dog responds well to gentle and calm commands and instructions and turns away if it gets reprimanded.
